If you’re putting together a home office, you probably already know a few things you’ll include. There’s a computer desk, computer, printer, and so on. But I bet there are a few things you weren’t aware you needed in there at all. The following 8 things should all be included in your home office, especially if you want it to be both unique and practical…
It’s always nice to include artwork in your home office design. This can really brighten the place up and give you inspiration when you need it. You could include artwork you’ve created yourself, or even artwork from a child. Whatever you do, make sure it makes you feel happy when you look at it.
A Pet Fish
Pet fish are a must in the office. Did you know that by looking at fish swimming serenely around a tank, you can feel more relaxed? Great for when you’re stressed! It’s the same kind of effect you get when you stroke a dog or a cat. Simply take some time out to look at your pet fish and I guarantee you’ll feel much better about life.
A Massage Chair
Having a massage chair in the office can be seriously beneficial. Not only will you be able to relieve those nasty aches and pains on your lunch break, you could even make it the main chair you sit in to do your work. Look at the Osaki OS-4000 massage chair if you need inspiration. You’ll save a ton of money on salon visits too!
A Stand Up Desk
Stand up desks are the future. No longer must you sit down all day in order to get work done. Stand up and do it instead. Not only is this better for your health, you’ll burn calories and feel more productive while you’re at it. Sitting down can leave us feeling groggy and unable to work, but standing up is a whole different story. Try it, and you’ll be surprised at how much more work you get done.
Feeling low? Uninspired? Have some inspiration quotes scattered around the office to help you. One look at these and you’ll remember why you’re doing what you’re doing in the first place. You can find these in the form of wall stickers if you want to decorate your walls with one or two quotes.
Natural light is much better in the office than artificial light. It helps us to feel awake and alert, ready for whatever the working day has to throw at us. Make sure your home office is a place with plenty of windows. You can increase the amount of natural light by taking away curtains and blinds. You could even paint the room white, so that it reflects more light on its own.
Exercising can relieve stress, so try doing a few kettlebell swings if you’re feeling stressed! You could even just do pushups, like Tim Ferris.
A Bean bag
Instead of sitting down to eat lunch on a boring old chair, get a bean bag instead. You can thank us later!
Have fun in your cool home office!
